Default Valve Lash

Hey guys Im doin the valve lash on my truck, Im planning on sticking to the .010 and .020 Ive heard of bringin them down .002 or so does it make any difference, Im goin for fuel milage and power. Thanks guys take care.

RanchhandTCR's Sig:1998 Dodge Cummins 24 Valves (Its A CUMMINS!) 3 in straight pipe exhaust. Fuel, Trany, Boost EGT Westach guages. DPS Exhaust manifold. Alaska PCM, 2008 Dodge rims fitted with Kelly Safri TSR in 26570R17. Back Seat Gun Rack!

As in taking them to 0.08 and 0.018? I don't suggest it at all. Too little valve lash will cause the valves to not close properly.

8 and 18 is a very good way to go I have both of my trucks set this way and it is awesome the turbo spools faster and valve rattle is all but gone!

Yep, thats what Im worrying about, Ill just keep it a .010, and .020 rather stay safe than have to replace bent valves and busted pistons if it gets that bad! thanks raw!

8 and 18 is still well above cumins minimum spec, however I set mine to a tight 10 and 20

Yea that link went crazy, Im just goona make sure its a tight 10 20 and be good, Its got 224K on here and I bought it with 210K the owner said he did it at 150K but since its simple enough Im gonna redo it so I know its been done right! Thanks guys...

Well I got er done, see if My milage comes back up and I cant hear anymore tickin at 55mph so Im happy and once shes warm I can barley hear the valves. Mission accomplished...

How much did you have to tighten them cause I have 195,000 on my truck and they have never been checked.

TC, TC lock-up switch, 110 hp injectors, AFE Cold Air Intake , Smarty/Edge Comp, Stage 3 Snow performance, 4 inch straight pipe, Aftermarket Intake Horn, AirDog 100, Leveling Kit, Cobalt gauges Pyro, Boost, Tranny Temp, Isspro Fuel pressure gauge and Sliencer ring out.

Well I know how to do a overhead I have done a lot on semis and trucks I just wondered how bad his valves were off. I didn't want to take my valve cover off just to see if they were ok.

Oh okay

I can all but guarantee you they will be out of specs by a large margin, if they have never been adjusted.
