How much did you have to tighten them cause I have 195,000 on my truck and they have never been checked.

Well I know how to do a overhead I have done a lot on semis and trucks I just wondered how bad his valves were off. I didn't want to take my valve cover off just to see if they were ok.

Oh okay

I can all but guarantee you they will be out of specs by a large margin, if they have never been adjusted.

Mine were out of spec big time, enough where I could start to here them rattle at 55 mpg, on the intake I could fit the .020 in to it! so it was a good time to do it. It suppose to be done every 150K on schedual a and 135 on schedual b if that means anything to anyone, it took me about 2 hours to get it done, I was in no hurry either... I dont think the owner did it quite right, one because some of the nuts where way to break losse some where S.O.B, but I torqued em down to 24 NM.

used the valve cover yea, What you meant the gasket yes I did it was still good and no cracking and it wasnt hard so I reused it. Most valve covers on Diesel are reuable do to the frequent Overhead done. I tell you one thing that every cummins lover hates about a cummins is that last bolt on the valve cover. LOL
