Fresh 24v cummins
Picked my block up from the machine shop friday. Hope to get my new engine assembled this week. Im pretty excited! Out of 3 cummins powered trucks i've had this will be the first time to have an engine with less than 200k miles on it. Block was bored .020 and had the deck and the main saddles checked to make sure they were true. New cam bearings installed and everything magnafluxed. This is going in the 02 qcsb that ive been rebuilding from a wreck. I will try to take plenty pics along the way if anyone is interested i can post them. I have a ton of pics to catch up on posting on the truck rebuild, hope to get them up soon.

Block as soon as i tore it down. I was amazed at how clean it was for 300k miles.
Back from machine shop and mounted on stand.
Nice fresh bores!
clean clean clean!
Measuring main bearings. I dont have a dial bore guage so I used my snap gauge and a micrometer.
All clearances checked out. Time to lower crank into place. I use a piece of rope and lower with the winch.

Running the main bolts down. I dont like impacts assembling an engine. Regular old milwaukee drill does just fine.
Torquing the mains to spec. I torqued down in three steps.
Dial indicator set up to check end play.
Good help is hard to find. She just turned 9 the other day guess a nap can't hurt. ha ha.
New pistons installed on rods. I checked the rod big end clearances the same way i did the mains. It took a long time to torque everything down and measure and take back apart but i have the piece of mind that it is 100% right.
All 6 in their new home. Nice and clean. Didnt get a progress pic because i had too much oil on my hands during this step.

Front cover installed getting ready for the cam.
Dropping the lifters in from the bottom. Way easier than doing this in the truck.
Sliding the cam in. You can reach in and support it as it goes in.
Tried showing timing marks here.
Back upright and the rear main installed now.
All cleaned up and ready for paint.
