Default Electrical Problems oh great! PLEASE HELP!!

98.5 2500 auto
When i bought the truck the #1 Parking lamp fuse holder( INSIDE THE DOOR) was burnt up pertty good so I decided to live with it for the time being and every now and again have to play around with the fuse to get it working. Now its totally burnt up. I bought a chiltons manual today to figure out which wire from the fuse goes to my headlight switch. Now my question is should i run a wire from my battery into an inline fuse and feed my light switch or what? What is the best way to access the back of the fuse block. I need to get this done by tommorow night because im hauling my works bobcat and lift to a job about 4 hours away. Also my other problem is how are the trailer brake running lights powered? I have all my lights to my trailer plug but only the running lights have no power. I traced it out to the plug under the firewall between the frame and its not hot there either. So what do you suggest?
Thanks a bunch.
I owe everyone who answers a beer
