hey everyone! I am new to owneing a diesel and i have a few question that i need help with. The frist thing is i have misfire and need to be pointed in the right direction of how to check and rule things out. The next thing is the exhaust mainifold looks to be leaking not sure tho. so i want to replace the turbo gasget and mainifold i seen that the mainifold in known for wraping, so what kinda prices am i looking at for those? Would these leaks cause my turbo not to spool fast enought and at the right boost? what is the stock boost setting for these truck and what can they push? i also have a trans problem where its starting out in 2nd gear but we have that diaged n will b fixing soon. this is going to be my daily driver and want the best out of her. oooo and the truck is a 1999 dodge dually diesel 24v. tanks again for the help

tell us more about the misfire

the exhaust manifolds cracking is a very common problem look to spend 400-500 for an aftermarket 3 piece or around 250 for an aftermarket single piece replacment. and yes if its cracked bad enough it could hinder the turbos performance

stock boost would be 15-20psi

ok finally today I was able to look at the truck at work today. I had a furl pressure of 11psi at idle (almost on empty). I loosened the injector nut on the number one cylinder wen i first started the truck and fuel came out, and then did the rest. I waited for the truck to warm up until i got the misfire and opened the #1 again and new fuel came out then i pushed on the line and fuel would come out. So is it possible that the injector is messed up or not?

Does it misfire only when idling or when driving too?

Miles on truck?

Stock lift pump?

I miss could be a injector or a updated injection pump. Most of the enhance injection pumps will cause a miss at idle but not when it is under load.

miles-319150, as far as i know everything looks to be stock looks like injection pump was painted. I have never worked on a diesel before and dont really know where to go or start. I do work on cars so know were to start (some what). How would i tell if it is a newer injection pump?

Injectors do wear out.... strange you have no codes, that is normally the best lead you'll get, it could be so many things. Personally, I think 11 PSI at idle is a little low... I get scared when I see 12 at WOT

Probably has something to do with your fuel system in 1 way or another.
