Default Transmission Woes (another one of these ?)

So, i was out with the family today, and all of the sudden, the truck felt like i had slipped it into neutral, let off the gas, and went back on the gas. and no problems,

about 100 feet later, same thing, only there was no returning from the dead,

Tow truck came, towed it to my work, and poof, truck moves under it's own power.

Fluid ok, no leaks, and the drive line isn't spinning separate.

Converter problem I'm guessing ? which one's do y'all pick for converters ?

If you plan on adding any more HP in the future, get a single disc converter. There are a few manufacturers that make them, and they can handle quite a load. Fluid is still light red in color??

well if your converter is having issues it can take out the trans too if you can swing it do the trans while your at it and get a good triple disc converter a single disc is not the best choice. I like spec rite converters

The truck at one point has had a trans rebuild, and word of mouth ( the guy i bought it from, bought it from that bought it from kinda deal ) is someone spent close to 3,000 on this tranny once before,

Fluid was okay and full, i just did a service less than 5K ago' ( which i wonder if i screwed something up ? ) Trans temp at time of death was around 140'-/+

I want to get it out and see what this thing has. and not knowing what has already been done, i don't know how to tell part from part OEM to aftermarket'

I was thinking about havin my local shop tare it apart and clean everything back up, and makin sure it's got the 48RE upgrades that i can, and the multiple pack clutch's for forward planetarys'

Any good ideas for valve bodies that are good value if i'm in there ? i have a heavy foot, and will be towing around 6K through out the summer, moving up to around 10K next year'

I've heard alot good about DTT converters ? any pros or cons ? Lifetime warranty can't be beat'
