Laugh turbo silencer ring removal a guide

So I took off my turbo ring last night and took a few pictures so I could write a guide. So First you'll want to take the Air box inlet tube off the from of the turbo. There is a flat head screw on the right side of the air intake pipe. Once off you will see a dark gray snap ring around the inside of the turbo. (example is in the pics). you'll want to take off the snap ring with a small flat head. I got mine off by getting under the snap ring and twisting it out. Once you get the ring out the silencer will almost fall out. it is the large silver cone ring that is going to the turbo inlet. (see pics). Once thats off your done! Now just make sure you clean out the turbo inlet for any metal scraps and put the air intake back on and get ready to whistle! There is no effect good or bad by taking the ring off. just lets that sweet sweet turbo whistle! Good Luck!

Said "sweet" turbo whistle gets annoying as hell on a road trip, and there are no noticable performance gains.

Very true. My buddy has a '00 with silencer ring MIA, and a S&B stage two. On the hiway it sounds like there is a dentists drill in the glove box.

The whistle isn't as noticeable on the later models with better insulation in the cab and firewall. If it isn't soothing enough to me I can just roll down the windows...
