Default fuel pressure gauge

my fuel pressure gauge just started acting wierd all of the sudden. when iddeling, it sits around 12-13(normal). then when i go to take off it spikes to around 17, and then down to 8-10 where it usually sits when i drive. its still working normal other than the initial spike when i take off. theres no leaks on the fuel rail or return or pump. Confused??

Is it a mechanical or electric gauge?

I'd try another gauge, even if it is just a test hose and a mechanical gauge.

Glowshift seem to have a reputation for a lack of quality.

From what I can tell, they haven't found a more cost efficient way to keep quality. The price reflects their quality.
