Default hx35-40 compressor wheel

I need some educated opinions on what wheel to use on the cold side of my hybrid turbo I am putting together. The hx40 compressor I just picked up, came with a 6 blade compressor wheel, but I have seen six, seven and eight blade wheels out there. What is the difference between them?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Also, are the holset turbos balanced by each wheel, or does it have to be balanced as an assembly?

Somewhere along the line I have heard that 6 blades are better then 7, but not why. I'm not too sure if more blades grab more air, or would reduce the volume of air that could be moved.

From my research, the 6 bladed wheels simply have more volume and are usually at least 60mm on the inducer side. Also, each holset wheel is balanced and then put on the shaft and rebalanced as a unit, at least that is what ive gathered through my research over the years

well now, that all makes a bit of sense, I think maybe I will quit looking for a different wheel and start looking for a turbo shop that is close to balance my shaft and wheels. aside from that does anyone know a good way to get paint off of aluminum? someone painted this one before I found it.

mask it and blast it, or just sand it off with sandpaper.

You could also try a paint and decal remover, available in a aerosol can. Spray, wait, and rub off.
