Explain to me how having diesel on the wrong side of the firewall is going to void my insurance. Where do you find this info? Is it actually written into your policy? Here is the Alberta Highway Traffic Act - Highway Traffic Act Also here: ... JOIN NOW TO REMOVE TRACER

Evil,
Make no mistake your insurance company is in business to protect their interests, not yours and they will look for any way to void any policy. Get in an accident with less than 3/16" tread depth = no warranty in either. That was written in the small print of every one of my policies when I lived there. I'm looking for the references about fuel in the cab. I have them somewhere. - |

mvsrsiii - Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations - SCHEDULE III
Transport Canada defines both passenger car and truck for fuel system, fuel handling, fuel system integraty and flamability of materials inside passenger spaces. I too will not be removing my isolator. - |

So, I guess then your insurance is void because of the FASS you have installed. Youre fuel system is modified and the additional components arent Transport Canada "approved"
Not being a just pointing out something you may not have thought of. - Last edited by Benjamin; 05-30-2008 at 10:32 PM.. |

Not exactly on the FASS or any other pusher pump - As long as the part replaces a OEM part and has a SAE stamp on it you are ok. Where you run into problems is when you cut holes in the fuel tank, modify the venting and such.
I know you aren't being a - I hope I wasn't either. I'm just trying to point out the "legal" aspects of where every individual should ask themselves what camp they belong to.I have another bit on hydrocarbons in the cab space somewhere and it basically says the same thing as I have said here. Now engineering wise, if you can prove, design or provide a second means of containment for the fuel from the back of the gauge you are likely ok - much like a earthen dyke in an oil field - the tank is primary, the foundation is secondary and the dyke is the last effort made on containment. Anyway, back to my point - to each his or hers own is all I'm saying. - Last edited by Benjamin; 05-30-2008 at 10:32 PM.. |
