do you have fuel pressure? this sounds like the vp is on it way out. when its warm, don't wait for the wts light to go out, just fire it right up. if it starts better, start saving for that vp.

What IS the fuel pressure at wide open throttle? You have a fuel pressure guage installed in the cab??

Scan it for codes. Hard starts when warm is one of the signs of a bad VP-44.

When its warm and wont start pour some cold water on it. If it starts easy again, its the pump.

They can die without throwing a code even with adequate fuel pressure

I have plenty of power, towing is no problem and accelleration is great even when engine is up to temp. Does this sound like an electronic problem in the vp44 to you.

this sounds more like a torn diaphram in the vp. like mentioned, if it starts fine with the two ideas above, (just crank it, don't wait for the wts and the cold water) i'd just wait until it finally dies. it will cost the same to fix now or later. it can run for a long time like this. jmo.
