I tried changing out the belt driven fan on a Durango a few years ago, and the thing instantly overheated. Has Anyone tried to change out the belt driven fan on a 24 valve Cummins? There are a couple out there that have a dual electric fan set up. Supposedly they can cool better with more airflow, and help with fuel mileage and power due to the elimination of the belt and the fan and fan clutch. Your Thoughts?
Thanks! |

A diesel engine generates alot more waste heat out the radiator tha a gs motor does............85% of the energy in diesel fuel goes out as heat so if one could harness that energy and make it into HP he would become rich real quick
a diesel only uses 30% of its cooling capacity on a non-towing/non loaded platform........with that being sid its clear that under those conditions a electric fan setup would more than suffice........however it has been proven many times that a diesel under load needs the mass air flow from the fan of the motor ...................the most CFM that I have ever seen from an electric fan setup is 8500 CFM and it just dont cut it effeciency of air to air exchangers is poor to start with |
