My transmission just started slipping. It's seems like it's only from 1st to second or maybe 2nd to third, and only when I turn left have I really noticed it. You can feel it hesitate and then slip into gear. It's not really too bad yet, sometimes I don't feel it at all, other times I do. Anyways I've got about 205k on the truck, pretty sure it's the original tranny. Fiancee just had our second kid, born Monday, a boy!, so I don't have a ton of money to put into this but it's my work truck so I have to fix it right. I'd like to make it better then stock but it's not like it needs to hold 1000hp on a drag or anything. So with that in mind, I need advice on what to do. I've seen some on ebay for around $2000, think that's with our the torque converter. Don't really want to spend that much, but if that's a better route and easier than rebuilding then I'd go that route. But if I can save $ rebuilding mine and still have a good transmission then I'd rather go that route. Anyways If you guys can help me out with this one let me know. Also if there's someone in my area that could help out let me know, I'll pay you of course. Thanks.

 

Find a good transmission shop and do a Suncoast Extreme Rebuild, Triple Disc Converter and Valve Body.

 

What do you think that would run?

 

get the tranny rebuilt , buy a nice torque converter and shift kit the valve body and you will be fine

 

Depends on what the shop charges ya for the labor. Your looking at $2000+ for parts. These are high quality transmission parts. Do it right the first time or it will cost ya more money in the long run.

$2000 for parts, plus labor. That's almost the cost of one of those upgraded rebuilds on eBay. This truck won't be too built. Maybe a bigger chip, but nothng too serious. Plus money is sort of an issue, so I'm hoping to find some cheapr ways to build it better than stock without breaking the bank, if possible. So anyone have ideas on how I could could do that with all of his mind?

 

That trans on ebay is probably no better than stock.

Honestly? If you feel like tackling it your self, I would buy a master rebuild kit, a trans go shift kit or an upgraded valve body and a decent single disk torque converter. OR you could buy those parts and have a shop install them. Though that might have repercussions on any warranty issues.

AS long as you don't turn the power up much, what I have listed above will last you a good long while without breaking the bank too bad.

So I'm looking around at least $2500 either way. Crazy! I Like the truck and it definitely gets the job done better then my last work truck, but it's costing me too much $.
