I have to throw mine in gear and usually 1st or rev or it rolls. The trouble is, it's getting colder and the time for increased indling is upon us - can't idle with a stick in gear. -

Mine works like the day it left the lot. About the only thing that does work good.

Get a Line Lock. -

What's a line-lock?

My truck rolls as if there is no brake - almost level ground and it moves.

Nevermind - I figured out what it is. -

maybe your back brakes are worn out, maybe your calipers are junk in the back

and a line lock is like what drag racers use when they do burnouts to lock the front tires so they dont fry there back brakes -

Pads and cali's are good. No codes but have had troubles with this for years. Just one of those things I've put up with and getting sick of it. -

i had that trouble after i loaned my truck to a friend. he was used to automatics and forgot to unlock the ebrake. he drove about 6 miles before noticing(dumb *ss). since then i have to tighten my drums every month or so. i know that you calipers, but don't they use a dummy drum for ebrake? -

I don't remember to be honest but that would seem reasonable. I'll have to get that a check to be sure. -

The E-brake on the trucks with rear disks uses the inside of the brake rotor as a drum. It has a couple shoes(just like a regular brake drum) that expand when you push the E-brake.

There is a slot on each brake that you can use to adjust your parking brakes. If you crawl under the truck you'll see a 2 slots on the back of each brake assembly. There is a little star wheel in there that you can adjust using a screwdriver( similiar to the AFC adjustment on a 12v). The adjuster is on the top on the drivers side and on the bottom of the passenger side on my truck.

Mine don't work worth a crap either. And wouldn't a line lock have to be energized to act as an E-brake? so that means once battery goes bye bye so does your truck? -

Theres no reason he cant leave it in gear when its parked - he really only needs the line lock when its idleing - which was the original issue - wasnt it?

Mine holds fine with a set of 305 tires, that being said I adjust it every year if needed. You might want to check to see if one of the cables are broken or pinched. -
