I don't have a Cummins, but I thought long about a battery relocation and adding a second battery because space is limited in my Jeep, and I still need a higher Battery capacity. So these are the places I thought about:
- In the spare tire
- below the truck in a dirt and water insulated carrier( simply to fabricate of resin)
- two 6 Volt batteries in series to gain 12V ( Optima has them). They will fit below the rear seats.

My future project is to make boxes that will fit in front of the wheel well to the front of the bed in that section of wasted space and put the batteries on one side and a tool box on the other side, just haven't gotten there yet.

I've also seen a lot a guys usin the Optima's and mounting them on the frame rails. You can buy the ready made boxes to mount em from Jegg's or Summit.
