I'm not on here to try and sell a VP-44. I'm only here for technical support!

this is what i'm talking about I'v personaly seen problems with remaned vp that were not resleaved because they "passed" the tolrance test. But this still results in a pemature pump failer.
As for the suply. No where did i ever say this was not a problem
I agree that 99% is 100% right

sorry bud, didnt mean to offend you but I'm sure you can probe the forums and find plenty of people that belive that.
I've also dealt with chip and industrial and DDP and scheid and CDS and so on and so on, and plenty of others. With proper fuel supply and a BOSCH Certified pump tech you wont get a P0216 code.
So to mend this over here's what I'm trying to say:
Any Authorized Bosch Repair Center provides the same quality work thats provided with chips pump. When the pump is rebuilt it's within spec, If when rebuilt it's in spec there should be no relation to the pump rebuild and another pump failure. PLAIN AND SIMPLE!
Sorry but I've installed hundreds of VP's All purchased from a bosch certified shop and HAVE NEVER HAD A FAILURE!!!!!! If Chip get's a pump thats within spec the plunger housing ISNT RESLEAVED!

The bluechip pump is over priced and is nothing more than a VP-44. Thats all there is to it, He used hype to sell more pumps! There's nothing wrong with that!
I'm just saying , It's the same pump you can buy from over 200 pump shops in the United states. Nothing special. If he's convinced you it's somthing special, I'd like to see some proof in his writing, and I'll take it to bosch and the other pump shops and we'll settle it.

Just a copy and paste

What we did to achieve this goal was to mix and match parts from other VP44 pumps to advance the timing mechanically and optimize fueling rates for better mileage. Sadly these mix and matched parts don’t do anything for the "HO" engines. After installation you can hear the timing difference especially at an idle. You will hear more of a crackle to the engine which is an indication of the timing advance. The Special X pump is made from all Bosch made parts. It does not have any aftermarket or modified parts in it, so this allows us to sell it with the Bosch 1 year unlimited mileage warranty.

The Special X is NOT what is commonly called a HOT ROD pump. A HOT ROD pump is modified to put out the most fuel for the most power and the worst fuel mileage. It is the total opposite of a Special X. To make a HOT ROD pump many internal parts have to be modified by aftermarket vendors and therefore do NOT have ALL Bosch OEM parts in them, so they typically are less dependable and therefore do NOT come with a warranty.

What we do to these pumps gives typically between 2-3 more miles per gallon and we measured 22 more horsepower at the rear wheels on a dynamometer on our 2000 Dodge. The Special X also lowers exhaust temperatures and enhances throttle response, so it is only a win, win, win, win situation. The only thing that happens occasionally is if a customer has, or later installs really big injectors, the idle will roll like a gas engine with a big cam. This doesn’t hurt anything but we want you to know this before you buy a Special X. We do not know if the Special X with its various internal modifications effects emissions, so if you are concerned about that, please don’t buy this pump.

And they quit making power at about 580 RWHP JUST LIKE THE SO VP.
I see nothing about the subject we're discussing, We're talking apples to apples. I see no description of exactly what parts are changed and what parts are refurbished during his rebuild. I'd like to see what Chip says set's his average VP-44 rebuild apart from others...Until then, i see this discussion as done.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Oh and FYI his statement isnt correct , atleast three of the HRVP's available use all factory bosch parts

So, back to the subject at hand......

When my Edge came back, I reinstalled it with a Stealth Plate, and at the same time changed the return relief on the VP44 as well. A combination of these 3 things have livened the truck up significantly. Not so much on stock mode, but every other setting is more aggressive now.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

I should say that when testing the old return relief, I could not find anything wrong.

I've got one of Chip's pumps with a P0216 code sittin on it right now. Had it bench tested and the electronics are toast along with the pump itself. The Bosch code for the mechanical portion of the pump is number "58 Start-of-injection control solenoid defective".

Now with this you still won't hear me say a bad word about Chip or his pumps. The pumps may or may not be anything any different then anybody else pumps, I'm not smart enough to know. What I do know is that Chip's after the sale support was fantastic when I bought this pump. I had some serious issue with the install. Just to be honest the original pump he shipped got trashed, by my own fault and Chip sent me a new pump out at no charge. Anybody else at that point would have charged me the next $1400.

The other advantage to Chip's pumps is the fact that he is one of the few builders that will warranty his pumps with the wire tapped as long as you use a plate. This is a huge plus factor with the things we do with our trucks. Who else sells a pump with this warranty. I know there is a few, but very few.

Somebody else was wanting info on an overflow return valve. This is the best one I have found yet. Completely adjustable to any pressure and works every time. Hilborn Primary By-Pass Valve - Brass

When you buy a pump how would you know if its been re sleeved and updated electronics installed. Really a pump at the lower end of being in spec is only a few miles of being out of spec .
