Default Stock truck Q's?

Hey all, I've been really putting some miles on my truck as of late.

It's a 2002 Dodge ram 2500, A4 with 125,000 miles.

Two questions:

1. Do these truck's stock not smoke or smoke very very little without any modifications? Because I haven't really noticed any tail pipe emissions yet.

2. When the front end starts to go how do you know? I can feel a little thump through the steering column when i stand on the brakes hard or hit and uneven surface.

They do not smoke or very little just being stock . Have somebody get in the truck start it up and with the truck in park turn the steering wheel left and right. Look under the truck and watch the tie rod ends if they look like they are dancing aka poping out of there socket there bad. Next take a jack and lift the front of the truck watch were the ball joints are upper and lower if they separate between the axle and the spindel there bad. Mine went at 71,000 everything was gone, even one of the hub assemblys. Check the steering shaft to . with 125,000 and if yours are still good that is great If you need end or joints go with MOOG or dynatrac joints .
