Default engine vapor in engine compartment

hi I just recently bought an 2000 dodge ram 3500 I noticed a light haze coming from under the hood when I bought the truck I did the blow by test and no blow by. there a smell coming in front of the engine smells like burnt oil or plastic after I drive it for a 9 miles do any one know what this could be. Another issue is my thermostat the temp will get to about 200 and then I will drop to 150 after that it will stay at 195.

Default engine vapor...

Hello. I'm having a similar problem with nasty, toxic odors in my cab. They are coming through the heater vents from under the hood. Initially, I thought it was the tranny dipstick not seating/sealing fully onto the tube. Also, I've heard/ read that it could be the breather catch can on the engine. However, it really smells like tranny or hydraulic (power steering) fluid...this morning I discovered that my steering box has been leaking a rather good bit onto the front end and am pretty sure that's the nasty stuff I've been inhaling lately. Anyone else experience a similar fate...Hope this helps.

Default engine temp.

Hey 2ndGen. Mine will not even get over 150 in this frigid Chicago weather (around 5-10*F) if I don't let her warm up almost fully. It can just begin to rise on the guage maybe 150*, and if I take off then, it won't get much hotter than that with the heater on and cruising at 65+mph.

Did you get it figured out and cured? Any suggestions?

Is there any sign of an oil leak near the turbo? Could be the seals in the turbo itself are letting oil into the exhaust and the vapor you smell is exaust and burning oil. Or it may just be the exhaust flange. Hope its the 2nd one.
