Ready for my next mod and need help desiding
Hey guys my 24 valve has 5" stacks an afe air cleaner and a 65+ chip. It runs great and smokes like a chimney under load, but it's time for more power , what's my logical next step here? I'm buying a 4" down pipe Tuesday along with gauges . It's my daily driver and does heavy towing weekly

5" has no performance gain over 4" but does make the spare tire a PITA as it will come close to it if not contact it..
I have 5" + 5" downpipe just because my primary turbo's exhaust outlet is 5"
otherwise I would have kept it stock straight pipe or 4" straight pipe.
definitely get a fuel pressure gauge on there, and upgrade your lift pump if you are planning on building more power... factory replacement pumps like the in-tank lift pump might be more reliable, but they don't flow enough fuel volume...too low of a GPH rating for increased fuel demand.
you want a minimum of 95GPH for mild performance mods and 150GPH for mild to moderate performance mods..

no need to change turbos until you outgrow the one you have... (unless you have an automatic with the hy35 turbo..then an hx35w would be a mild improvement)
adding a larger turbo without the fueling to spool it will just cause you to lose power and have increased turbo lag.
No need to upgrade the turbo until you go larger than RV275 injectors WITH wiretap fueling.
if you have an automatic transmission, you better build it before you start modifying anything else power wise or you will end up broke down on the side of the road with a busted transmission.
47RE's can't take much abuse in stock form.

IF you wanted to you could get bigger injectors but like they said invest in the lift pump i dont plan to go over 500 myself and did the research. the airdog 100 will be fine unless you plan on going over 500 then you might as well get the 150. Since you have the stacks you could buy the 4" turbo back kit unless you already have that. gauges would be the first thing on my list egt, fuel pressure and boost they will help out alot. Before i converted my auto to a manual the tran temp gague saved me from frying it a couple times along with the boost gauge helped me shoot down a loose intercooler boot. Good gauges are isspro but i found a company called pro sport that is all digital havent ran them yet but when i do i will let people know what i think of them good luck on the build up man
