Identifying marks on vp44
My vp44 went out a week after buying my truck a year ago and had a reputable shop install a rebuilt pump. The more I think about it, the truck is faster (the owner of the place said it should "fly now") with this pump than the old one when it was running good. I also recall him saying this pump cost a little more but he couldnt get the same pumps he normally gets. Are there marks on the pump telling you it's a hot rod? Are there also marks on it to tell you it has the newer, more durable computer?
I read on the HR pumps, they idle is goofy and tend to get a little moody power output wise. Mine idles fine but when this thing wants to go, it tries to peal the asphalt off the road sometimes. I'm not into ragging on it but it just gets up and can't help but let it rip once in a while.
The main reason I ask is that I want to get a simple tuner, like an edge ez but don't want to waste the $$$ if the pump is tuned already.

Can't say that I have ever seen any marks on mine saying that it's a hot rod pump. Also idle on mine is pretty good with the injectors I have. As far as being moody? Look at my sig. and hp numbers. I now have a water meth kit installed and I am running just under 800 rwhp. Runs out pretty nice if you ask me!

02 cummins,
I've read a little that the hrvp44 tends to be more responsive at times. I'm not getting dead pedal but it just wants to rip the street apart at times, that's why I call it moody.By the way, them are some big numbers. Would love to see that thing run, bet it can tear up some realestate.
