Default need help fast....injector pump help

VP44 finnally went out. Left me on the side of the road. Its throwing the code p1688....not good. its my understanding that there is nothing else to do but replace it. So i guess the question is what kind of pump should i go with ? been thinking about the bd high performance vp44. wondered if anybody has one or has a better option without spending the 4000 on a p-pump conversion. thanks

If i recall a p-pump conversion is only ~2250. If your labor is done by your self.

P0216 is usually the VP death code.

Here is some info on how to diagnose your VP.

I looked at a forum from blue chip diesel and they seemed to have a really good link on how to diagnose the fuel system. I would actually recommend everyone to take a look at it if your having any problems. It's very detailed and has a lot of information. It said that the 216 isn't as bad as everyone thinks and only tells you the Injection Pump can’t attain full timing advance to provide good fuel mileage and power and that the 2 worst codes are 1688 and 1689. What are other people's thought ????

Actually if you read the link you sent me it tells you the exact same thing. The 216 code doesn't mean you need to replace the IP

Yes that pdf is the info from blue chip. I didn't say the P0216 code means you have to replace the IP, I said it is usually the death code.

$2250 is expensive these days.

Keep in mind that you lose the dynamic timing that the vp44 offers. you can get a replacement Vp44 for under $1000 from several places. IMO a p-pump swap is better suited for performance applications for those trying to break 600-650HP. you can replace 2x vp44 for less money (once you get a p7100 pump) and the adaptation requires more time.
