Default over reving

I have a 1999 5.9 it was losing power the rams would drop to 0 and would lose power changed crank position sensor now when I shift from third to fifth and it over revs I don't think it's transmission speedometer still moving just not linking with rpm just revs

I just pulled a P1693 code on my Genisys how do you fix that problem I think its the App

P1693 just means there is a code in the ECM. There is a PCM Powertrain Control Module and ECM Engine Control Module. You need to find the code in the other module.

I have not used the genisys but the computer is bolted to the side of the engine block behind the fuel filter.

Question if I have to replace my Apps sensor do I have to reset anything or just replace hook up batteries and drive.

I am not aware of anything else you have to do. It may do you some good to disconnect and reconnect the batteries but I am not sure if this is needed.
