Mine did that prior to replacing the torque converter. Had 1,2,3 and overdrive.

Whats the tps voltage? Is the tps providing a smooth increase/decrease in voltage? Have you adjusted the throttle valve?

torque converter has about 2000 miles on it, everything works great minus lock up. i'll check the tps voltage later today.

If the throttle valve is to tight it will prevent lockup. The tps voltage is known to become erratic if the bell crank and bushings are worn. Both of these are far more likely to cause lack of lockup than a failed converter.

tps voltage is .610 and the sticker says .625. close as i could get it. i havent messed with the throttle valve yet. i'm not very good with transmissions. i had probably 600 miles on the tranny and everything was super nice then i was cruising 75 and it just unlocked, never came back, never tried to lock up at all since.

If you move the bell crank is the voltage change smooth? If you push the bell crank towards the pump does the bell crank move or feel loose? Does the voltage change when you do that? The pcm actually looks for 1v for min throttle voltage.

movement is smooth, voltage is smooth too. not loose or giggly. voltage does go up when i push it, as in giving more throttle
