Default Heater

I replaced new dodge thermostat and new heater core truck warms up but temp gauge only reads about 145 shouldn't it be heating at 165 175 anybody know.

What kind of T-Stat did you use? Could be a faulty thermostat. Should be running 185-190.

that is what I put on the truck gets warm just worried about why its not reaching right running temp.

Where do you live, because If I dont have my radiator cover on I dont get past 140 where I live. Suppose to get to -30 tonight..

Just wondering, you are giving it plenty of time to warm up right...there motors do take a long time to warm up. For mine, as an example, if it's cold out, say 10 F, and even plugged in with my stock block heater (which isn't the best as far as block heaters go), I'll let mine warm up idling for a about 5 minutes or so, but it'll take another (roughly) 15 minutes gentle driving time for it to get up to full temp (approx 190 F). To answer your other question though, mine doesn't make any heat until somewhere around 175 F. Even then it's only slightly warm heat.
