Putting in a new oil pan gasket and was wondering if the ultra gray just needed to be routed along the 4 holes of the back of the gasket or should I go around the entire gasket. Also both sides or just one? Thanks
I put a thin coat of black permatex on both sides all the way around. Just dont make it so thick you get a bunch squeezing out inside the pan. Be sure to give it a few hours to cure before adding oil and driving it.
Would it be a good idea at all to put some permatex shellac on the block with silicone on the seams of the front cover and rear main seal cover and then shellac on the oil pan side of the gasket?
