Default quick fluid questions guys

2001 24v

im buying oil for my oil change tomorrow. the owners manual said 10 qts + 1 qt for filter. so i put 10 qts into the truck, then pour 1 qt into the filter before screwing it on, or just put 11 qts into the truck? only ever changed my fords oil filter, and it is facing downwards in its little housing whereas this one is hanging there, so wasnt 100% sure. just dont want to mess anything up.

ALSO... read the whole damn manual, and it doesnt say how much rear differential fluid to put in.. it needs changed pretty damn bad... its also a little low anybody?

Yes, pour oil into the filter before installing it. This will help build up oil pressure much more quickly after the oil change. Careful, you think the filter is full then the oil soaks into the media.

What rear axle do you have? That will determine the amount of fluid.

About 10 pints for you rear diff I believe. I always pour oil into filter slowly and til it fills up completely. Make sure you check and make sure you either have a limited slip differential or not. If you have it don't forget to add friction modifier.

I also like to pre-charge filters, give lubrication a little quicker. If you can, pour the oil into the outer ring of holes instead of the middle. Despite it is brand new clean oil, I like to pour the oil in the filter the same way if flows with the engine running. I do the same with all filters, especially fuel.

Depending on which diff in the read, I'm pretty sure it is 8 to 10 quarts, and I believe 6 for the front.

That's what I do, but to each their own.

Should work fine, as it does not have anti-drain back. Anti-drain back filters prevent oil from being poured in around the outside holes.

If you open your hood there should be a sticker and it'll tell you what you have etc for the rear front.
