Default Blue/white smoke on start up after sitting

I have an 02 24v completely stock I just bought it. It only has 75,000 miles on it and after it sits for a few hours and I start it it blows a blue/white smoke and doesn't want to rev very high and low on power. It last for maybe a minute if that then it drives fine. This is my first diesel ever and I don't know all that much. Anything you can suggest would be greatly appreciated.

Everyone is going to, or want to ask the same questions;
1. What is your fuel psi (test port on the Injection Pump).
2. what kind of lift pump (stock, on the block, in tank, or aftermarket).
3. run to an auto parts store that does free scan on ODBII.
4. then list the codes on here.
5. hope RA Williams chimes in because he knows his stuff like no other.

Read up as there are many threads on lift pumps (I just found out that not all aftermarket pumps are what they are cut out to be), fuel pressure and the importance of monitoring it. Also read up on changing the VP-44 injection pump, if you are mechanically inclined, as it sounds like your truck is going down the same slippery slope as mine right after I bought it. Hang on to your shorts, you're not gonna like the sticker shock if it is the IP.

Thanks for your input fuel pressure is 11 psi. The lift pump is stock so I was told and I'm not sure on its location but I will check and have the codes ran. I am well aware of the problems associated with the lift pump and vp44 as well as the cost. Thanks for your help.
