I have a 1999 cummins turbo diesel dodge 24v with major problems. Codes such as
P0602
P1693
P0237
P0753
P1492
Truck needed Trac bar and serpentine belt. Which are now both done. Truck still needs steering box front end alignment.
Now another major problem. Truck is staying in 4th gear. Not shifting up into overdrive or 5th gear. Won't even down shift. I have to downshift manually. I just got this truck yesterday. When I got the truck it shifted mint. The kid who owned it before me installed a smarty tune and said you can go up on the tune. So I went to go put the truck in stock today and the truck is now giving me these problems. Truck is automatic and the kid told me his uncle owned the truck before him and had the tranny already rebuilt. No paperwork though. Truck has 143k miles on it. When I got the truck the obd2 port was broke so I put in a new one and that's fine. 4x4 works when it wants to. Any information would be great.

 

they are only 4-speed trannys, and the shifting problem could be caused by the t.v cable being out of adjustment. as for the 4wd working on and off, its most likely a vacuum problem, or a junk front axle actuator.

what was the symptoms of the obd2 being bad???? i think mine is bad but my local dodge dealer said they have never had one go bad!!!!!!

 

My problem with the obd2 port was the prongs were showing outside of the black casing. The kids friend broke it so I just cut and spliced a new one in.

The other symptom of the obd2 gone bad is it shows no bus on the mileage within 5 seconds of having the key on.
