tranny bucks
so my good old 92 5 speed with 173,000 on it is stock besides some pump tweaking. it bucks or hops when starting out in 2 and in reverse empty or loaded. shifts fine otherwise. u-joints are fine and tranny does not slip and always overfilled by a quart. anyone had this? or any ideas? could bad shocks cause that? thanks!!!

Bucks like your trying to take off with too little RPM? Or bucks like the suspension is acting up?
Could it be the clutch on its way out? How old is it?
If it bucks like your starting in too high a gear or with to little RPM, Have you checked your idle RPM? I know we upped a buddies to 850-900 (from the factory 750) and it helps with the starts alot. Maybe yours idle RPM has slowed down some.
Also maybe something is creating extra drag that the truck has to overcome to start... Got a brake dragging?
Just some thoughts to get you started from my very little 5-speed experience, keep us updated.

might be original clutch as i got the truck with 129,000 on it. i could be lugging it as i'm not one for giving it much throttle when letting the clutch out. my rpms are at 850 at idle and not brake dragging. could be driver error. i would think if the clutch was bad it would be slipping. but just when i think i know something i find out i know nothing!!!
