1st Generation Dodge Cummins 89-93 Discussion of 12 Valve 5.9 Liter Dodge Cummins Diesels with Rotary Injection Pumps

alright i got an idea to buy a 2wd 1st gen and make it a 4x4. i know im gonna need a 4x4 trans, transfer ase, drivesheft, trans cross member, the front drive shaft and fornt axle. now my question is, is the sspension going ... JOIN NOW TO REMOVE TRACER

alright i got an idea to buy a 2wd 1st gen and make it a 4x4. i know im gonna need a 4x4 trans, transfer ase, drivesheft, trans cross member, the front drive shaft and fornt axle. now my question is, is the sspension going to need to be modified and any other info you have will be helpful. thanks

going to 4x4 will convert it to a straight axle insted of independant just a welder and some metal to make the spring mounts

All the holes to go from 2wd to 4wd are already in teh frame. Its the little things that will drive you nuts. Unless you have a complete (maybe wrecked) 4wd truck yuo will be better off to sell the 2wd and buy a 4wd.

you could keep the 2wd trans and just get a divoriced transfercase, make a new cross-memeber for both tranny/transfercase, get front axle, make spring braket's on frame and by brake lines, driveshaft, leaf springs or coils whichever you decide, make up the steering and sway bar, and probley get new springs for rear as the front will sit higher after the conversion.
