89 12v to Blazer conversion help
After about a year of hiding money from the wife and accumulating parts, i am sooooo close to getting this baby together. Firat what i have, a beautiful 1984 blazer with a factory 6.2l and 700r4. The motor still runs well and tranny works, but not how i want to move down the road. I was able to get a really nice 12v Cummins from a 1993 bus and that has been sitting at my mechanic's garage while i gathered the rest of the parts. So i finally sourced a complete 1995 Dodge ram 2500 with a 5.2l gasser and a recently rebuilt nv4500. The plan is to scavenge the entire clutch, hangers, adapters, and transmission from the donor vehicle to complete an auto to manual swap.
And now for the two questions. Will the 5.2l bell housing mate to the 1993 cummins, or do i need to source a new housing? I know i need to replace the 4x4 input shaft to mate to the np208 that i plan on reusing on my blazer. But once that new shaft is installed, will this bolt directly to the transmission without an adapter?
I appreciate any and all help as i get this thing together at the end. My birthday is late January and i would really love to have this beast driving me to my party! And if you can think of something i am missing for this swap...let me know! I am ordering a conversion engine crossmember and motor mounts, but that is all i can think of currently.
Thabk you
