Default Who to go to?

Looking to have my engine built to right around 500hp and was wondering who if anybody know would be a good person to go to? Oh and if you had a rough estimate on how much they would charge would be great but if not I can give them a call.

well what i would do is get you a 14mm injector pump, some head studs, o-ring the head, some 5x14 injectors, and a 62 mm turbo or a set of compounds, do a powerstroke intercooler swap, get your self a boost and pyro gauge, and a good exhaust manifold, and a cam, you could also port the head too, but 500 hp isnt all that easy or cheap to get out of our 1st gens, you could also do a p-pump conversion

if you did a p-pump conversion you would still need a good set of injectors, a big turbo, a cam would help spool the big turbo faster, all in all i would probably do a compound turbo set up like a 62/68/12 and a s475 but you looking at close to 3 grand just in the compound set up, you can make 500 hp off the VE44 pump u just gotta put a 14mm head on it, which would be cheaper than doing a p-pump conversion unless you can find a p-pump under 1000$. if it were me i would upgrade the stock pump to a 14mm get a set of 5x16 injectors, a big cam, 3200 rpm governor spring, some valve springs to match the cam, o-ring the head, a good aftermarket exhaust manifold, a bigger intercooler and intercooler tubes, a air dog 150 lift pump, and a fuel tank sump kit, with a minimal 3/8 inch fuel lines. the trick is to get as much air and as much fuel into the truck with out melting pistons

what do you need 500hp for? are you gonna drag the truck? if not you dont really need 500 hp, with my set up i have now ive beat a few 6.0 fords and a few duramaxs, these trucks come to life with a few pump tweaks and a better turbo.

I wouldn't put a 14mm head and/or a 4mm camplate on a VE unless it was a trailer queen.

You can get high 400's with a well tuned 12mm stock head.

Don't get caught up in dyno numbers - like G73 asked, what do you feel you need 500hp?

Even a "measly" 400rwhp on a relatively light truck is a whole lot of fun.

I have seen 375hp trucks that are well tuned for quick spool + low EGT + launch embarrass higher HP dyno queen trucks.

ofelas, I don't know where 500hp came from it just seemed like a good mid range for having fun but yet be able to pull close to 20k lbs once in awhile.

A high volume low pressure Cummins lift pump will support high 400s, and keeps the fueling simple as compared to the electric units.
I run 17psi at idle and 12 at WOT on a fresh big fuel 12mm VE.
Tell Mark at Dieseltuff.com the guy with the old SubLime beater sent ya, he will advise you on whether to run the 12psi or 15psi pump spring based on VE mileage/condition.
You'll also need the install kit for the HVLP piston lift pump, he carries all that stuff in stock.
