Default Worries on mileage.

I have the opportunity to purchase a 93 W250 4x4 5 speed for $9,500. I'm concerned with the mileage though, 273k. Originally that would be wayyy too many miles, but the head has been milled and studded, new clutch (6k on it), and a new HX40. Would you guys be worried about that many miles?

Thanks cumminsblazer. I guess my question would rather be what do you think the problems with that many miles be besides head work and turbo and clutch. haha

Do you think it's worth that $9500? I think $8000-8500 is a better estimate imo.

Standard cab long bed with that many miles i would be more inclined to think 6500 would be on the high side, 9500 is way out of line. The milage is not really a big deal on the motor but the body is another story.

Thanks dezeldoc! There's 2 pin hole size rust spot on rear fenders.

Anybody else have any opinions or concerns on this?

Remember on rust you can multiply what you see on the front side to about 100 times or more on the back side, what you are seeing is just the of the iceberg.

Check that dana 60, front steering and suspension out good. With that mileage and those large tires it could be worn out. When I got my 93 it was wearing threw $200 a piece tires in 5,000 miles. Ended up putting about $1700 in the front end b4 I got it lined out.

Looks like a nice 1st gen. If everything checks out I'd have no problem giving 8,000 for it.

What you have to ask yourself is would you buy a 273K 93 Dodge? The Cummins is not the problem it's what it's installed in. These are the last of the power wagons, the thing is as tuff as nails but it's still a Dodge. The electrical system and sensors can be a issue, especially with a automatic truck. I kept having rear brake issues until I replaced the entire parking brake system and I flip a coin whenever I drive it weather or not the speedometer will work and I'll have overdrive. Aside from the engine you just have to chase after the rest of the truck more, but everywhere I go someone wants to buy the thing.

Also, check excessive blow-by.
