Default clutch dragging after install 13 inch to 12 1/4

hi i just replaced my clutch in my truck since my throwout bearing failed on the old clutch.
the old clutch was a 13inch sachs but i couldnt get one in town so i put a 12 1/4 stamped one in since time was a factor and my truck is basicly stock and i don,t do alot of towing with it anyways.
The problem is now the clutch will not disengade i got my friend to push is down while i was under there and it looked like the slave was working just fine. Can i not put a 12 1/4 inch clutch onto a 13 inch flywheel or do i have other issuses thanks .

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

There is about a inch of free play at my clutch pedal is it possible that the eyelet on the master is worn and wont disengadge the new clutch since it needs to be opened more?
Or is there always that much freeplay in the clutch pedal?

Free play just needs to be enough so the rod is not holding on the master cylinder piston.
How much clearance between the throw out bearing and the cover plate fingers?
Is there any noise when trying to disengage?
Any chance the clutch plate is contacting the flywheel retaining bolts?
Did you check the clutch plate on the input shaft splines before fitting?
Cheers Steve

the clutch is quiet when pressed and smooth except for the noise of it the disc dragging when in gear but it dosn't sound metal to metal.
I think im going to take it out and get a south bend and put it in this week kinda sucks having to do the job twice but whatever as long as it works this time.
Also i didn't resurface the flywheel is looked not to bad fairly smooth still but i can see in hindsight how it could have caused problems since the new clutch isn't wearing on the same place on the flywheel.

That is what I am thinking. Sucks to have to do it twice though.
