Default Missing a spring in the VE pump

I'm trying to rebuild my leaking VE pump and assembling it back together.

I'm at this point:

I can't find this spring and the hole in the part the spring goes into is smaller on mine. Is it possible I never had this spring? If not, where can I get one? Because I've looked all over, cannot find it.

if this is on your cummins it does not have a spring there.. the Volvos do.. your cam will go on next and make sure the pin lines up with the keyway on the front shaft.. also on the cam there will be a small shim.. it goes between the plunger and cam. the shim is called a timing spacer.. are you changing the cam? if so you need to check the timing by measuring the plunger depth from the back.. If so let me know I will give you the specs. to make sure its within specs.

Thanks... I was hoping that was the case but couldn't be 100% sure. No, I'm just resealing the pump for my Cummins. I've looked and looked for a proper rebuild instruction manual step by step for the CUMMINS 6BT VE pump but could not find one. Sure, bits and pieces here, but nothing step by step and nothing that showed there not being one. It seems most instruction guides are for VW's.

I found this:

#29 goes on next. There are woodruff keys on the driveshaft. Part numbers 13 and 205... Are you saying I need to be lining something up with the woodruff keys?

yes.. 29 Cam has a dimple or pin that goes on the plunger.. that pin or dimple has to be on the same side as 13 and 205 or it will be off time.. oh and the timing shim I was talking about is 52..
