Default 1999 trans in a 1997?

I just got my 1997 3500 4x4 and was looking at getting the auto trans rebuilt. I just came accross a 1999 4x4 trans that is a fresh rebuild for sale. Will the 1999 4x4 transmission fit in my 1997 4x4? Would I have to modify anything?

should fit without any issues. they are both a 47RE, take your speedo gear out of yours and install it in the new one in case your rear gear is different than the rear that was in the truck the tranny came out of.
