Default Please Help

Gota good one for yall.
98 dodge 3500 truck came factory with a 24v cummins, it now has a 97 year model 12v.
The guy that did the swap for the owner used the balancer and crank sensor from the 24v and left the 24v cummins pcm hooked up for the tach temp and oil sensors. He has a wire run from the inj pump harness to the fuel shutoff solenoid on the 12v. To my knowledge he had everything working as far as it charging and the gauges working, now it won't charge and the only gauge that works is the tach. The odom does not flash and it reads the mileage, when you turn the key on the gauges come up to the red lines but will not register any higher, the batt gauge does the same. The trk has 308,000 miles on it and has a 5 speed trany. Owner replaced alt before bringing trk to me.
Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks, Tim

is the tach accurate when its workin? i was having problems with my 95, tach n speedo didnt work and it wouldnt charge. it ended up bein a bad connection to the pcm, but a bad voltage regualtor can cause the same issues. check all your grounds too. its amazing how somethin as small as a broken wire can cause such big issues

i didnt even think about an OBD scanner. hook it up, if u cant make connection to the pcm then its either a bad pcm or a messed up connection. mine was the plug that goes into the pcm, loose pin or something.

I forgot to mention that i tried a pcm from a 97 12v w/ manuel trans. it did not work but i don't know if the pinout is different between the 97 12v and the 98 24v. I don't know if the speedo works i have not drove the truck and the owner didn't say anything about the speedo. The truck belongs to a friend so this is one of those buddy deals. With all of the colorful engineering done to the truck no shop or dealer will touch it.

i would try to re gap the crank position sensor first, as that could be the culprit. i believe it is .040 or use a credit card to gap it. spray the sensor off with brake cleaner to make sure there is not gunk on it as well!!!!
