Default Oil Pressure/Supply Questions

So I got some bad news on Friday, my Super B Special isn't going to be covered under warranty because I supposedly ran it without oil and the shafts and bearings are scored... What I don't understand, how can I have ran it without oil for 2000 miles without hurting my S480, engine, IP, etc?

I have had an autometer oil pressure gauge (tapped on top of the oil filter, then when I went to compounds, I T'd into the oil feed line on my S480) on my truck since before I even ran my super b special and my oil pressure has always been about 36psi at idle with it going to topping out around 80psi. So any ideas how this could have happened without me smoking anything the entire engine?

Have you checked the oil pressure with a mechanical guage? Just curious if there would be a difference.

Im wondering if synthetic oil could have prevented this? Ive heard of dino oil cokeing and causing issues just not sure if it could score shafts and bearings.

all i know is that when you put a new turbo on your supposed to fill it with oil before starting the truck. idk if that helps.

Not with a true mechanical gauge, my autometer oil press. gauge is electric. I kind of thought the same thing about what if I had a synthetic oil, because I didn't have a cool down timer until after I got the compounds set up, so that turbo had about 2 weeks of irregular shut down

I did that for both turbos... That's what has me lost, why did one turbo "supposedly" not get any oil and "blow up" while my primary looks and feels like it just came out the box still.

Another thing, if it helps, when I pulled my 64 off, a few days after the shaft became loose, it drained a fair amount of oil onto my bench so that really aggravates me when I'm told I was running it without oil...

i would guess, but don't know for sure, that they are claiming the turbo was not supplyed with oil so that they would not be resposnable for replacing it for free. sounds like a shotty service, could be the case could not? just a thought.....

I'm thinking the same thing... On Friday I had to argue with them to send me back my supposedly "unrebuildable" turbo. Finally they were going to send it back, as of right now, they haven't shipped it back to me and they are looking for it in their shop... It's now been 4 hours and not a word from BD
