I would also vouch for a bad/corroded ground somewhere...

I've also heard of similar issues due to a bad CPS.

ok so far i changed the CPS with the one off my other cummins, no change. called one of my buddies and borrowed the PCM from his 94, no change. i unplugged the cps and my tach is still bouncin. i thought the cps controlled the tach???? what the hell is goin on here? i have no WTS light, the alternator isn't charging, my tach n speedo are bouncin. i really hate electricity. im really pissed off and im about at my wits end.

i've now gone thru just about everything i can change and i've gotten nowhere, i've checked grounds, i just dont know what to do any more. can someone please help me

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

still fightin. i changed the ASD relay, n there are 2 relays on the the firewall about dead center of the truck. not sure what they do but i changed them anyway. next thing is the alternator.

a little background, the first time i noticed the gauges jumpin was about a week after i got the 5 speed in, i took my buddy for a ride, shifted into 2nd n got on it a little n it wheel hopped n the tach n speedo started bouncin for about a minute, then went back to normal.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

should i even bother changin the alternator? i unhooked it today n it didn't change anything
