Default Maunal trans guys...

I have a '96 12v with 200k, 4x4, 0 fuel plate & star turned up, 4" exhaust. I am in the process of replacing all the fluids & have the trans left. The local parts store had no idea what kind or how much fluid to use, Lol. Just wondering what you guys are using & any other tips u might have. Thanks in advance...Mike

Be very careful what fluid you use for the NV-4500. You will need a GL-4 rated fluid and using the wrong fluid will destroy your synchros and youll need to do a teardown. Castrol Syntorque (not Castrol Syntec), or Amsoil Synthetic Manual Transmission and Transaxle Gear Lube 75W-90 API GL-4 (MTG). The Amsoil costs about a third of what the castrol costs.

AMSOIL - Synthetic Manual Transmission and Transaxle Gear Lube 75W-90 (MTG)

Capacity is: 8.5 pints Ram NV4500 Specifications

Lots of good info here: Dodge Ram Specifications

And here: Ram Diesel Index
