Sorry that drives me nutsI agree, gov springs, I put 4k in my 94 and it can go up 3700 no prob, My stock 95 cant rev over 2300. Sounds like your pouring the fuel to it, but it has nowhere to go so its smoking and popping. Maybe advance your timing some too |

This is a stock pump without governor springs it will not rev past 2400-2600 without defueling and doing exactly what he has described. jake... Your question was answered by me. |

They will free rev past 2600. I say its low on timing mine did the same thing before I advanced my timing to 19, now it's fine.

GSK isn't bad. There are instructions around just do a search. Timing will take special tools and you can get a kit on eBay for around $150 but you'll need to get a delivery valve socket as well which is another $40 or so. You can run plateless if you tune the AFC but I prefer to run a 100 or 0 plate just to give the rack a stop.....There are plenty of guys that run plateless but I'm not to fond of it. With a 100 or 0 the AFC will control the low end fueling and be out of the way for the upper RPM power.

Exactly.....but it does give me a warm fuzzy feeling of having a rack stop.
Of course then you can add a Mack plug and gain some extra rack travel......

I can't unless I get some flat tops.
