more air flow; its entirely possible. you may notice boost pressure may drop; but it takes a restriction to create pressure. by cuttin the intake loose your reducing restriction and increasing flow. all of which can and will help egt's -

Soon to be: fuel pin, 366 spring, smooth wall intake tubes once i actually start stock piling some money, turbo and manifold swap, 4" exhaust; 5 if it'll fit. and nozzles.

A 3 1/2 inch pipe might be too big of a hole on the plate. Most people that are making them are using 3 inch 90 and 45 degree bends. I have been working on getting one fabbed a little differently just to see how it turns out. It should be done by tuesday this week. I will post up the seat of the pants results. -

Just got the intake horn on. Did an easy drive home( baby in the truck) but it did feel more responsive. I did did a quick roll to 2k rpm and it hit 10psi faster than i recall. It may all be in my head but oh well. I will say the design me and the paw-in-law fabbed is taller than most, the hood just barely clears and the dipstick is mounted on the bottom of the curve instead of the top. 70 bucks invested including 2 new gaskets and paint. -

I have one of the CoolerTubz intake from Tim Worline....I would say it dropped my EGT's a little maybe 50* and maybe a little faster spool up but I wouldn't bet on it. Does it make things look cleaner? Yeah. Is it shiny? Yeah. Would I buy one for another truck? Maybe. Tim did a great job on it and it's a quality piece but an intake on the pressure side on a diesel isn't going to do much because the turbo is pushing air through there not like on a gasser where it's sucking....it's a lot easier to blow through a straw than suck through on. Here is a pic of mine:
