you can do the star wheel. the mechanism it adjusts is what limits fuel at low boost. basically, it makes it smoke more, but with a little turning you may get a little better response off the low end. Before you go into it though you really need to get at least an EGT gauge.
That being said, the allen screw your looking for is about a 1" plug behind where the injector lines come off the pump.

yes you can move the plate foward it requires the removal of the afc witch is th housing
that the star wheel is located in if you are in their you might as well grind the plate to a 100 and push it full forward and as well as the afc housing hope that helps ya

what trans do you have? Fill out your sig with truck info and it'll help a lot.

Slide your afc housing all the back too and that will help actually add power...not just the black smoke. When i first got my truck i wanted to do everything but had no money at the time. I slid that housing and played with the star wheel. It helped a little with throttle response. Buy a plate if u can while your right there and it would be even better. Theres 4 bolts on it and one is sealed. I used a punch driver

Really depends how you drive it. Not sure how many miles it has but with performance mods the tranny is on borrowed time.

tune your afc correctly and you'll save on the trans abunch too if you have a tendancy to horse the throttle around. it delays full power for afew seconds; but once your rolling it isnt near as much strain as a dead stop at WOT

put a good valve body and converter, and input shaft and flexplate in the tranny she will hold up alot better. also look into the torque converter lock up switch as a search on here its another cheap and easy mod that makes a big diffrence
