Installing a pryo, what can go wrong?
So I finally got a 1/8 NPT 27 tap for my isspro pryo gauge, and it was a little cold today so I wasn't going to install it today, until my roommate told me I was being lazy, and a few other words.
Its pretty straight forward, take a small drill bit and work all the way up to 21/64 sized drill bit. Take a pencil magnet clean out all of the metal shaving until you you get a clean magnet out. Then using cutting oil, or grease coat the tap in it and start slowly cutting out the threads.
THIS IS WHERE CRAP CAN HIT THE FAN!!!
Well it did for at least me. The tap decided that it liked it home in the manifold more than anything else, and snapped clean off the rest of the tap. Now if this happens to you and you can not get a screw driver to grab a part of the tap, take some needle nosed pliers, small enough to fit into the slot in the tap and slowly work it out. After that go and have a beer, then screw the rest of the pryo fitting in, then, the probe and tighten it down.
After that happened to me I didn't know what to do, so I improvised with that quick fix. Its better than taking the manifold off, and trying to drill it out.
