Default What's Up With My Steering?

my power stearing has been acting weird on me today it feals like the truck is off when trying to turn the wheels at idle but when i get the rpms up it turns fine, what is wrong with this i want it fixed before i go on my 3000 mile round trip next weekend

nope the fluid is fine i check it every 3 days it has a small leak from were the pump and the vacuum pump conect to eachother. i noticed after everytime i do hard core off-roading with her by the time im done the pump is out of fluid, but thats neither here nor there right now so ya think the pump is out then?

If it's the same as our later models ther's a screen in the pump that tends to clog up. If it's not all the way clogged you can usually chenge the fluid and use a good synthetic and it will keep you going for a while.

well when i look down into the reservor i dont see any screan and would that make a difference even know it turns great with high RPMs and its not that big of a deal to replace the pump that only cost $60 but thats a last resort

change fluid and add some lucas power steering fluid. but everyone pretty much sumed up the rest.

GRI's Sig:04.5 quad standard box, air dog 100, 5" xpandit exhaust with muffler, AFE montser intake with amsoil nano filter.

The leak is one issue and needs to be fixed.
The low power steering assist is another issue.
