Default High mileage a prolem?

so ive been lookin for a new truck. i currently own a 97 psd and fell in love with my friends 97 ctd he let he drive. Im not lookin for a show truck or anythin just a truck that can do a good job towin when i need. So i found a 96 ctd dually with 370k miles on it. It's been well maintained and only needs new tires. The owner just replaced a ton of parts and hes only askin $4200. Is this a good deal or should i stay away from a truck that has 370k miles on it? are there any problems i should look out for? thanks!

man, I would jump on it .... I bought mine with 197K and havent looked back .... manny guys will get at least 500K from a well maintained Ctd ....

small stuff like lift pump, injectors, exhaust manifold,..... just normal wear items just like any other truck ...

I'd say the same as any high mileage motor.

compression test.
leakdown test.

other than that, a maintenance history goes a LONG way. I've seen it with motorcycles lots. the guy with 20,000 miles on his CBR is dealing with a bigger basketcse than the guy with 60,000 miles on his CBR because the higher mileage bike was well taken car of.

I bought my 1st 95 with 300k, sold it with 396k. Ran like a top, and he still drives it, beats on it like I never would and he's very happy with it. Just my .02

Do the tea kettle test

Loosen the oil cap and place it on the filler tube. If the truck blows the cap off or rattles it all around, too much blowby. Also, if you take the cap off and a whole cloud of smoke engulfs your head...too much. Some smoke is ok. My 95 has 305K with a good amount of blowby and it's still good. 601rwhp and 395-410 on compression.

Some basic trans mods and tuning and you can be 300HP without a problem.
