Default So, I sure am burning through headlight bulbs...

Can't keep a set working, this is my fourth set in less than three months. New OEM switch and pigtail, new dimmer switch, Geno's headlight harness upgrade with relays and direct power. Everything I can see looks good, wiring-wise. I've used four different brands from simulated 7K's to Silverstars to plain old Sylvanias. I keep my lights on all the time, but still, I'm only getting 1-3 thousand miles out of them before a low beam stops working on one side or the other, usually followed closely by the high beam on the other side leaving me with no way to have both sides on at once. In one case, the bulb actually exploded, leaving little bits of glass all over the inside of the headlight housing. It isn't consistent either, It's not like it always blows a certain beam on a certain side, there's no pattern. I want to upgrade to HIDs at some point, but would like to get whatever this problem is squared away first. I spent over $100 on bulbs in the last few months, it's getting ridiculous. Any ideas?

if its poping the bulb ... u might have water in the lens .... or you have a bad ground and it causing excessive heat in bulb ...

Lenses seem clear, but bad ground is very likely. The only thing I know is well grounded are the batteries, I'll have to take a good look at the others. Thanks!

it will be most likley the fire wall to Frame ground that will be weak and might cause some reverse polarity issues and hence the circut is completed through some other wire ... can get ugly real quick...

Think I would check voltage on the ground side.

So uh... where exactly should that firewall-frame ground be? Because I think it might be MIA.

its one of the major ones though .. there could be some from the core support to frame , possibly from the harness its self to frame also ... might wanna go get a Diagram to save ur self some irritation ... or un-plug the headlight and determine which wire is the ground and make your own ground .. done that before manny times..
