Default f700 cummins, need help identifying a part

I recently picked up a remaned 5.9 out of a f700, and I'm hoping someone with more experience here can identify an odd looking line for me. I'm supposed to be getting my service manual in the mail this week, but this doesn't look factory to me.

Looks like a coolant by pass of sorts... will help keep the water pump from lifting head... also will help eliminate air bubbles to escape to radiator .... looks like it should be there

No idea. I got mine on a pallet. I just snapped some pics of a truck that hadn't been parted yet to get an idea of hose routing. I didnt get the radiator. It was too big, but i did grab the overflow side tanks... So hopefully it goes into those!

Good to know. It'll be a month before I'm mocking up the piping, any ideas what to do if there isn't an inlet for it on the suburban radiator?
