Default Unfinished Chevy C/K to cumins 12v conversion worth $3000?

Guy selling this truck he said he wanted to covert his 1995 Chevy C/K to Cummins engine with dodge automatic transmission, only left however selling it for $2500 now.
He say all left to do is hrottle cable, drive shaft and few other small things engine and transmission already installed.

However i kind of suspicious why he asking only $2500 (plus towing it 60 miles will cost me $500) for it cummins engine by itself cost $3000+, wonder if he messed up something when tried to put it together, i am not specialist in cummins myself so even if i go look at it i most likely wont see what's wrong.

From picture seems like that man has another exact truck plus one in garage. To me it looks like truck he sells was his working truck before he ran engine it into ground and just got same truck to use old truck for parts and now sell it as project when in reality it has 500,000K miles on the engine...

My goal is to have reliable truck so i will probably rebuild engine and buy manual transmission anyway.

However i wonder if its good deal or i am something something ?

It would part out for way more than that even if there is a rod hanging out the side. Also in a matter of 20 min worth of checks and a set of jumper cables should tell you a lot.

compression test and cooling system pressure test would tell you a lot even if it wont turn on for some reason.
