Default Help Fast!!

I got a 96 dodge 2500 with the 12v. The tach, spedo isn't working. Alternator isn't charging. No wait to start or any other lights come on the dash. No check engine light.

I have a electric fan wired straight to the batteries on the high side and the low side is controlled by a Haydens controller. I turned on the high side to cool the engine down quicker and I had it on for about 5 minutes then when I hopped back into the truck the GEN light was on and when I turned the high side off the light went off but the alternator wasn't charging anymore and the trans wouldn't shift out of 1st gear. Lost the spedo and tach at the same time. I checked all my fuses and they are all good.

What does this sound like I need to know ASAP. Is this a bad alternator or bad CSS or something else?

My thinking is I overloaded the alternator running the electric fan on high for so long because that was the most recent thing I did before this happened. Alternator is still covered under warrantee.

All fuses are good. I just pulled the ecm off the truck and started the truck and everything is the exact same as if it were still plugged it. Havent had a problem till after I ran the electric fan on high for a few minutes and im pretty sure the fan pulls 30 amp which may overload the ecm if the regulator is internal. Is my thinking correct and without me really knowing I fried my own ecm

if you wired it right to the bat I don't see how the fan could have hurt anyhing. I have a set of dual elec fans wired right into the bat on my truck and have never had that issue before.

Try unhooking the tach sensor and see if that fixes your issue. If it shorts internally it will cause the issues your talking about.

Would a bad alternator cause this problem too?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

So I looked over the truck and found some what of I though happened but don know the full extent. The power going to my switch to run the high side of my fan got hot and melted. It melted into the ground wires for my lights on my gauges, ignition feed to the Hayden controller. Ground wire to some of my lights and two wires in the harness underneath the dash. I'm gonna repair the damage and give her a shot. I earlier pulled all the wires apart and disconnected the white wire from the battery and nothing changed?????

So the crank position wasnt getting a ground or power. Finally got power to it and got connection to the ground but guess what. Still nothing I ordered a new pcm yesterday so it will be here Saturday but unfortunatly its one day late of being able to make the local pulls at the county fair. Oh well but still I'm worried the new pcm still wont fix it.......
